Introduction

Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma

Dr. Paul prides himself on delivering natural, long-lasting results with minimal down time.

Forehead osteomas are firm, immobile, painless bumps on the forehead. They can affect your self-confidence and overall comfort. Sometimes they grow after a bump or trauma and sometimes they grow for no apparent reason at all. Dr. Ben Paul has a unique skill set to remove osteomas using an endoscopic camera.  He is not only a skilled surgeon but also a trusted partner in your journey toward a smoother, more confident forehead.

The Basics

What is an Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma?

An Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma procedure is a cutting-edge surgical technique designed to remove osteomas (bony growths that develop beneath the skin’s surface on and around the forehead) with minimal scarring. For many, these growths are painless, but having one visible on the forehead can affect one’s appearance and self-confidence.

In some cases, forehead osteomas can cause discomfort that can be alleviated using this innovative surgical technique. Using an endoscope, a slender tube equipped with a camera, and surgical instruments, Dr. Paul precisely removes the osteoma using minimal incisions often placed within the hair, resulting in reduced scarring, a smoother forehead, and a quicker recovery.

Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma Timeline

  • CONSULTATION (PRIOR TO SURGERY)

Dr. Ben Paul will evaluate the size and characteristics of your forehead osteoma. Most patients require imaging (CT scan or similar) to ensure the lesion you have is indeed an osteoma. Dr. Paul will arrange you to get an image if you do not have one. With his expert guidance, you can weigh the pros and cons of your options and create your personalized treatment plan together. Our Patient Coordinator will help you schedule your appointment.

    1st Visit
  • PREOPERATIVE VISIT

You will be given instructions for your procedure as well as details about the type of anesthesia and the need for a medical clearance. All medicines will be sent in for you in advance.

    2nd Visit
  • DAY OF SURGERY

Typically performed as an outpatient surgery, an Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma involves minimal downtime, so you can return home the same day. Depending on your specific needs, the surgery typically lasts no longer than an hour. Local anesthesia is often combined with deeper sedation (given by an anesthesiologist) to ensure your comfort during the surgery.  At the conclusion of the procedure, a wrap is placed on the head. Dr. Paul does not use any tubes or drains.

    3rd Visit
  • DAYS FOLLOWING SURGERY

You will remove your head wrap the next day. Most patients experience some minor discomfort, swelling, and bruising near the treated area. Swelling will follow gravity and may swell the upper or lower eyelids. Dr. Paul will provide detailed instructions for wound care and pain management to help make sure you’re well-prepared for your recovery process.

    (DAYS 1-5)
  • 1 WEEK FOLLOWING SURGERY

You will return for follow up evaluation. Any non-dissolving suture will be removed. Most patients return to work by 1 week, if not sooner.

  • Weeks Following Surgery

You’ll notice gradual improvements as swelling subsides and the initial benefits of a smoother forehead become apparent. Most patients can typically resume light activities within a week. Dr. Paul and his team will continue to monitor your healing process through follow-up appointments to provide guidance and support as needed.

    (WEEKS 2-4)
  • FINAL RESULTS

Around the three-to-six-month mark, you’ll enjoy the full benefits of your Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma procedure. As any remaining swelling completely resolves, your forehead’s appearance will reach its optimal state. Dr. Paul may also recommend occasional check-ups to ensure your long-term satisfaction.

What are the Benefits of an Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma?

Opting for an NYC Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma procedure offers numerous advantages compared to older, more invasive alternatives. Firstly, it enhances your appearance by restoring a more natural and symmetrical look to the forehead. Beyond the physical transformation, the removal of a forehead osteoma can significantly boost your self-esteem.

Some forehead osteomas can even begin to cause pressure and discomfort if they grow too large or press against nearby bones or structures. It can be uncomfortable to wear a hat or helmet. The minimally invasive approach of this procedure often results in reduced visible scarring and a quicker recovery period than more traditional surgical methods, ensuring that you can return to your daily activities with limited interruption.

Who are the Best Candidates for the Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma Procedure?

The ideal candidates for an Endoscopic Forehead Osteoma procedure in New York City are individuals who have a forehead osteoma causing cosmetic concerns or discomfort. Good overall health is essential for ideal candidates to ensure a smooth recovery. Additionally, having realistic expectations about the procedure’s outcomes is crucial because while it does provide significant improvements, it may not achieve absolute perfection. Unfortunately, not every patient is a perfect candidate for this approach.

Dr. Ben Paul will carefully evaluate your unique case during a consultation to determine if you are a suitable candidate for this treatment option.
